Inspirational Life Story True - Saudamini Deshmukh

Today's Inspirational person is Captain Saudamini Deshmukh. She is currently the Deputy General Manager of Indian, formerly Indian Airlines. She has several firsts to her credit. She has also come across some testing times to raise to the current position. So we believed it would be worth enough to feature her in this column. If her life story inspires a few other people, brings a change in them, we would really feel happy.

Some of the first that stands to her credit are :

• In 1985, to become a check-pilot on a Fokker-27.
• In 1989, became the captain of an all-woman crew on a Boeing 737 from Calcutta to Silchar.
• In 1994, she became Captain on Airbus-A-320
• In 1995, she captained the airbus with an all-woman crew.

And now to top it all, she's the first woman to occupy the chair of deputy general manager (Operations).
