Inspirational Life Story True - Rosa Parks

Today's inspirational true life story showcases the life of a woman whose courage had changed the lives of so many Americans and people around the world. We are truly inspired by Rosa Parks, to whom courage was a key to success.Rosa Parks began a movement that ended legal segregation in America, and made her an inspiration to freedom-loving people everywhere. She showed exemplary courage when she was arrested for violating a city ordinance. All she did was not to give her bus seat to a white passenger and was later arrested. Rosa Parks did not buckle up and rather she emerged stronger than ever before.
The Bus incident sowed the seeds to start up Montgomery Improvement Assocation. MIA was formed under the able guidance of then a young pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The association called for a boycott of the city-owned bus company, which lasted for 382 days and brought Mrs. Parks, Dr. King, and their cause to the attention of the world. A Supreme Court Decision struck down the Montgomery ordinance under which Mrs. Parks had been fined, and outlawed racial segregation on public transportation.
Rosa Parks later made significant contributions to the society. She founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development which educates teenagers about the history of the country and civil rights movement. She has won numerous accolade for her inspiring work.
She passed away in 2005 at the ripe age of 92.After her death, her casket was placed in the rotunda of the United States Capitol for two days. This was a huge honor considering that it was only reserved for the President of the United States and she becomes the first woman in the history of America to receive that honor.
